Research on Arabic and Celtic Patterns

Latin/Arabic Patterns

Oh Brother Where Art Though

With the seamlessly ongoing propaganda from the west making brothers fight in the east, the problem is getting more serious day by day. The fact that Arabs, nonetheless from the same religion, can not get along with each other against the real enemies, is very worrying. We will never be able to achieve real peace in the world, if we cant achieve peace within ourselves. This I decided would be the main idea behind my project. In an effort to show Arabs the ridiculousness of the situation we are living in, I am using my project as a mirror to what is happening in our world. There is a famous Arabic saying that says, "Me and my brother against my neighbor, and me and my neighbor against my enemy", unfortunately it seems it is the other way round these days.

The actual implementation of the project, I will have two Arabic styled patterns, designed by me, silk screened, or transferred onto glass panels that are A1 size. As individual panels, you see these two individual beautiful patterns, however when put on top of each other you begin to see more. A snake is formed going through the patterns, which symbolizes the evil that is breaking up Arab cultures, which are represented by the actual patterns. The snake is the main feature of the two designs, I am still thinking about adding in other elements, or even making a series, however, this will be decided when the work on the pattern is started.
